This institution was setup with a wonderful idea of promoting FOSS. It has a got a very young work force.

Dislikes

The management is utter chaos. They did not even know why it was actually set-up. People are assigned single projects and most often they never deliver the projects. Because of lack of resources, knowledge and team support. This is especially true in case of language technology department. It's only purpose is training, that too needs updation. Management just puts pressure on team to deliver but never ask or analyse why team is lagging. The heads actually need to update themselves before they could guide incoming team members. People are treated preferentially and politics inside the office ruins it's working environment. Good resources never stay because they always land better opportunities and management never really try to save or identify critical resources. Unless the management truly devotes time and work on developing a solid structure where team can be built it's not going to sustain. <mark style="background-color: #fff5e4;"> Never pay good salary, has got all the issues associated with a typical goverment organization as well</mark>. Bottom line, please consider joining the company, it's at best is an extention to your college, with teachers who doesn't really know about how the actual software industry heads the department. HR is complete disaster, you never really get a proper HR policy here. Government of Kerala, and head of IT department and it's secretary should really spend time on this to correct it's direction....Read More

The company is an udertaking of Govt. of Kerala. The works are research oriented, so that we can learn new things.

Dislikes

The working culture is very bad. There is no proper guidance or team work here. The senior people are not providing any support. An entire project is assigned to a single person and that person have to do all works related to that project. Most of the works are research based, so that the person have to do all the research work and do the implementation. And there will be no support from the superior and collegues. The management is also "Hopeless". The recritments are politically biased and based on personal favours. The recruitments are contract based<mark style="background-color: #fff5e4;">. The salary and appraisal offered is very less compared to other IT firms</mark>. The most of the works are outdated ideas. The work environment can be simply described as a toxic one.The senior people who are supposed to do technical support was also hopless. They were just complaining/ criticizing the work by junior people. And most important factor is mistreating lady staff. There is no proper complaint committee, ad there were incidents like ignoring the employee complaints by the higher authorities....Read More
