HSBC in itself is a big brand ,getting an opportunity to work here would be no less than a dream for some, I'm not an expert on salary appraisals but yes HSBC offers good appraisals in the market as compared to its contemporaries (you could always expect a hike in two digit %) however lately it also depends on the project,team and the profit that your department gains. Again job security and career growth really depends on the department and projects that you are a part of .Speaking of training and learning their are monthly trainings from basics like excel to project domains and it depends on every individual's capacity to grasp things, work life balance is good at HSBC ,though you do have to work through day and night depending on the demand and deadlines which is obvious. The only important thing is you should land in a good team and if you are fortunate enough rest of the things will fall in place and if that does not happen you might stumble a little and would have to work your way around to get into good projects if you can maintain a good network it would be handy.
