And the sad part is these hikes are not dependent on the work you do, rather on the rapport you have with your manager and being very strict on your demands of year on year hike. A lot of politics. There is no foolproof system or process of evaluating the performance of employees. For example, I delivered 230% performance last year and I got 7% hike and my other colleagues who delivered 80% to 90% performance too got the same hike. Many managers are not capable of evaluating the performance. Hence employees who are buttery get the benefit. Those who are talented but slightly disagree with the senior managers in terms of how the work should be done, such employees suffer.
