They have an excellent operations structure, jobs are well defined and all tools available for optimum performance. The top management had an agenda which was not communicated to the lower levels. The company took the job in Nigeria just to fulfill a global contract with an oil giant which needed it to operate in 4 countries. Since they were making heaps in Khazakistan, they were only wanting to manage Nigeria even if at some loss. I was part of the Nigerian company which was taken over by ESS to fulfill the global deal. It became very difficult to fathom at one stage that why people are not bothered about poor performance and nothing is being done to improve things. Concerns were raised but no solutions ever suggested or implemented by my seniors. We saw top reins being handed over to five persons in a span of four years. Each of them either with no experience in Nigeria or no catering background. Whereas, competent hands from within the company with relevant experience were not entrusted this role.
