Budget allocation for IT projects rise; ₹500 crore outlay for AI Centre of Excellence
- Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced a total outlay of ₹500 crore for the establishment of an AI Centre of Excellence for education.
- IT industry body Nasscom has welcomed the launch of the ₹500 crore AI Centre of Excellence for education and the establishment of five National Centres of Excellence for Skilling as forward-looking initiatives.
- Industry experts believe that these initiatives will strengthen the adoption of 21st-century skills in schools and contribute to building a future-ready workforce.
- The Budget has also allocated ₹2,000 crore for the India AI Mission and increased the total allocation for the Ministry of Electronics and IT by 48% to ₹26,026.25 crore for 2025-26.

- Nasscom has recommended simplification and rationalisation of TDS provisions and resolving TDS and equalisation levy issues impacting the e-commerce sector.
