Mozilla removes ‘Do Not Track’ from Firefox because it was useless
- Mozilla has removed the 'Do Not Track' feature from Firefox as it was found to be useless.
- The 'Do Not Track' feature sent a request to websites stating that the user doesn't want to be tracked, but websites had no reason to respect the signal.
- Furthermore, the feature had the opposite effect by providing a signal that could be used to identify and track users better.
- This highlights the failure of self-regulation in protecting user privacy.
