Going to broadly categorize this into 3 category, 1) Integrity/ethics of the company 2)Work culture 3)Growth opportunities 1) Integrity/ethics of the company Indiahikes keeps modifying the its polices very frequently (In about every 3-4 months) These policies are mostly the policies that directly affect the lowest members of the hierarchy, I.E the Trek Leaders The terms and conditions mentioned on your offer letter means squat to them and it will keep changing as per the management's convenience. These are the the changes I saw in my time. 1) Trek leaders leaves decreased. From about 23 leaves in a year, it got decreased to 16 leaves 2) Trek leader gear allowance was forfeited stating financial crunch. They never disclosed any figures to support this statement. 3) Trek leader reimbursement for food (Food when you're travelling for Indiahikes) was reduced to 200 Rs for three meals.They expect you to eat three meals in a day for 200 rs and pay the extra from your pocket 4) IH used to cover the train fare for trek leader's leave. They sent out an email stating trek leader's leave is a liability for them and they will not cover it from November 2019 5) They deducted 16,000 Rs from Trek Leaders for walkie-talkies and some other gear. This is gear which is essential for running an IH Trek. It is basically the equivalent of an IT company keeping a deposit for the computer, that they will provide you to work for them. In the pandemic of COVID-19, they simply asked every Trek leader to leave and find new jobs. The CEO just put a message on whatsapp group saying best of luck for the future, thanks and shut down the group. To summarize, IH is absolutely unstable, especially when it comes to the welfare of the trek leaders. They don't always function in an ethical/professional manner and since a lot of trek leaders are freshers, they put up with it....Read More
