From Resume to Cover Letter Using AI and LLM, with Python and Streamlit
- The job market has become technology-driven as companies move to online recruitment employing software such as LinkedIn and Indeed. Artificial intelligence (AI-powered) tools provide software and plug-ins that tailor resumes for specific companies and extend to cover letters. Ideas have been proposed by several writers to create one's resume assistant using Large Language Models (LLMs). A simple guided way of creating tools for this purpose is displayed and involves making use of pre-existing APIs from GPT-3. The CV and job description are passed through a JSON file containing LLM prompts that are inputted onto the backend UI (a few simple clicks), with an output of your constructed cover letter.
- Large Language Models (LLM) are used to create the content of the cover letters. The Large Language models are specific AI models responsible for producing text, including AI tools and plug-ins that tailor resumes for a specific company. AI assistants use an API to communicate with AI LLM tools and create the desired output.
- Companies like LinkedIn, Indeed, and even in general, the internet have made the job market very technology-driven. AI is changing this game further, with the likes of GPT-3 already in play. GPT-3 is a large machine learning language model that generates human-like language responses. Building your own LLM or training one from scratch can be expensive and will require a high level of tech expertise.
- Guided and straightforward instructions are given that allow users to build their own cover letterapp using Python and APIs. To create the structure for the cover letter, two APIs are employed. The first API pulls all necessary and pertinent information from your resume and uploads it onto the energy AI Garfield cover letter API’s prompts.
- Before integration with the LLM prompts, The resume json is loaded and processed, then the job_description parsed and formatted, after this, a cover_letter file in .docx format is generated. Finally, a .pdf version of the cover letter is saved to disk. This method uses LLMs to create fantastic cover letters that are tailored to the job description and job role in question, in less than 5 hours from scratch.
