Capacity utilisation of steel companies to hit 4-year low at 78%: ICRA
- The capacity utilization of steel companies in India is expected to hit a four-year low at 78%, according to ICRA.
- The proposed investment of $50 billion for additional capacity of 90-95 million tonne per annum may be delayed if the earnings of domestic steel mills do not improve.
- The surge in cheap imports has led to a decline in market share and profit margins of domestic steel companies.
- India's finished steel imports are projected to hold a 7.0-7.5% share of the domestic market in FY25, the highest level in six years.

Most Indian corporates lagging in reducing carbon emissions: ICRA ESG Ratings
- Less than 10% of companies from sectors contributing 55% to India's overall emissions have committed to net-zero targets.
- India ranks sixth globally with 127 companies committed to SBTi net-zero targets, primarily from non-hard-to-abate sectors.
- None of the top three contributors of emissions in the power sector have committed to SBTi targets.
- Only a few corporates in India have managed to reduce their absolute emissions in the last six years.
