Manage software engineering resources including skill & talent development as well as managing customer project assignment. Develops Professional Services overall system architecture and technical practices. Ensures the integrity of the architecture/design and technical aptitude of the team. Determines and develops approach to customer solutions in alignment with the integration of Zebra technologies/solutions.
The DevOps Manager will oversee the DevOps team, ensuring the continuous integration, delivery, and deployment of software applications in a fast-paced environment. They will manage all aspects of the DevOps lifecycle, fostering collaboration between development and operations teams, enhancing automation processes, and driving efficiency and quality in software delivery. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, deep technical knowledge, and hands-on experience in DevOps practices, cloud infrastructure, and automation tools.
Role & responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead and mentor the DevOps team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high
performance and continuous improvement.
- Manage team performance, setting goals, conducting performance reviews, and providing
feedback.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and communication between software development, IT
operations, and quality assurance teams.
DevOps Strategy & Planning:
- Develop and implement the DevOps strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and
objectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define operational and development requirements, ensuring
robust solutions.
- Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) for the DevOps pipeline to optimize
performance and efficiency.
Automation & Infrastructure Management:
- Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of CI/CD pipelines to automate software
deployment and infrastructure provisioning.
- Manage cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), including scaling, monitoring, and cost
optimization.
- Ensure infrastructure as code (IaC) practices are followed to improve reliability and reduce
manual interventions.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Act as the liaison between development, QA, and operations teams to improve cross-functional
collaboration.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement through the regular evaluation and
enhancement of DevOps processes.
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership regarding DevOps performance, challenges, and
opportunities for improvement.
Incident Management & Troubleshooting:
- Lead the DevOps team in responding to and troubleshooting operational issues related to
deployment, performance, or reliability.
- Ensure proper monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes are in place to reduce
downtime and resolve issues quickly.
Security & Compliance:
- Ensure that security best practices are integrated into the DevOps pipeline, including
vulnerability assessments, secure coding practices, and data protection.
- Maintain and enforce compliance with industry standards, policies, and regulations for
infrastructure, applications, and data.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in a DevOps role, with at least 4 years in a leadership or
management capacity.
- Strong experience with DevOps tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform,
Ansible, and Chef.
- Proven experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies.
- Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack) and incident
management.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git) and branching strategies.
- Expertise in infrastructure as code (IaC) and automation scripting (e.g., Python, Shell,
Terraform).
- Experience in managing scalable and highly available applications and infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and development lifecycle.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with cross-
functional teams.
- Ability to handle pressure, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer).
- Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
- Knowledge of security frameworks and practices within DevOps.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools and platforms like Datadog, Splunk, or New Relic.
