Security Engineer Mimecast

1. Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mimecast Email Security Specialist to join our

team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing, implementing, and optimizing

Mimecasts Secure Email Gateway solutions within our organization ensure the security,

integrity, and deliverability of inbound and outbound email traffic, protecting from email threats

such as phishing, spam, and spoofing.

2. Responsibilities

• Configure and manage SPF, DKIM, and DMARC for inbound emails.

• Implement DKIM signing for outbound emails.

• Analyze email logs, including rejection/bounced messages, and perform detailed searches

across email archives and held messages.

• Oversee data retention policies scoped to domains and users.

• Enforce granular access control using the RBAC model to ensure appropriate permissions.

• Develop and enforce fine-grained email security policies leveraging match and regex

expressions.

• Configure thresholds and manage policies related to authorized outbound emails, address

alteration, anti-spoofing, greylisting, impersonation protection, permitted and blocked

sender lists, message/attachment metadata, etc.

• Define exclusions to the configured policies as needed.

• Oversee internal message journaling for archiving purposes.

• Enforce TLS for both inbound and outbound emails with relaxed/strict encryption modes.

• Implement spam scanning with adjustable thresholds (relaxed, moderate, aggressive).

• Monitor and manage URL protection and rewrite for inbound emails.

• Add HTML and plain text disclaimers to inbound, outbound, and internal messages with

customizable scope.

• Enable secure messaging functionality to share email data securely with external parties.

• Produce detailed reports on email security metrics and provide actionable insights.

• Coordinate and execute company-wide and targeted email security training, including

phishing simulations.

• Provide awareness training on identifying phishing attempts and malicious email threats.

• Manage threat remediation tasks, including surgically removing malicious messages from

the email system remotely.

• Utilize Outlook plugin for phishing/spam reporting from end users.

• Oversee DMARC compliance monitoring and configure alerts for deviations.

• Implement and manage Brand Exploit Protection strategies to safeguard brand reputation.

• Manage and optimize Mimecast capabilities in both O365 and non-O365 email

environments.

• Integrate and configure DMARC Analyzer and ensure adherence to best practices for email

security.

3. Qualifications

• Bachelors or masters degree in computer science, or equivalent experience in related field.

• 5-10 years professional experience managing and maintaining network systems.

• Experience managing Mimecast Email Gateway and related email security technologies.

• Strong understanding of email security protocols (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) and policies.

• Experience with email threat protection, including spam scanning, phishing detection, and

impersonation protection.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical issues

effectively.

• Previous experience managing Mimecast in an O365 or non-O365 email environment is

highly preferred.

4. Certifications

• Certifications in email security from Mimecast, Proofpoint or any other.
