Principal Scientist

Role & responsibilities

• To own YBL Vision, Values and Mission.
• Identify & develop in-house technical expertise; Participate in promotional exhibitions and showcase technical capabilities to the customers.
• Working in-sync with cross functional teams
• Improve technical and scientific capacities & capabilities of the team as per business need; Facilitate required training in different technical areas; Identify & mitigate the risk; Support Key Account Management (KAM) strategy with technical inputs IN ORDER TO keep team/facility ready for any upcoming projects.
• Guide the teams to ensure conformity to the processes, quality systems, safety, health and environment; Facilitate creation of new quality systems as per the need of facility / projects
• Evaluation of new study request for feasibilities and liaison with Facility Management, project management and business teams for preparing competitive study quotes for study proposals.
• Planning with Facility Management and IT teams in developing, restructuring or upgrading infrastructure facilities and helping technical teams in validating testing capabilities and process improvements, identification of training needs for special competencies/skills and arranging necessary trainings in order to maintain a State of Art lab facility
• Capability Building-Recruit, Upskill, Develop, engage and retain talent with desired capabilities, Succession Planning, Internal Progression.
• Identify and engage pipeline for critical roles.
• Promote internal talent to take up key positions in order to effectively motivate people to achieve greater goals for the organization
• Work collaboratively with other team members to perform all necessary automation protocols for expansion, reprogramming and routine culture of iPSCs, their differentiations, scale-up, long-term viability and functional studies and QC validation.
• Expertise in integration-free (Sendai, Episomal) and feeder-free reprogramming from healthy or diseased patient samples with high reprogramming efficiency.
• iPSC reprogramming using integration-free methods (Sendai, Episomal); feeder-free from healthy or diseased patients with high reprogramming efficiency.
• Developing and optimizing protocols for isolating, culturing, and differentiating iPSCs into multiple cell lineages.
• Gene editing in iPSCs, including gene knock-out and knock-in for disease modeling using CRISPR technology.
• Development and optimization of protocols to differentiate iPSCs into multiple cell lineages
• Preparing Certificates of Analysis (CoA) and conducting functional QC for consistent batch results
• Managing tech transfer from R&D to production floor, including maintaining GMP-compliant documentation of D batche
• Facilitating the creation of new quality systems as per facility or project needs.
• Assisting technical teams in validating testing capabilities, improving processes, and arranging trainin for specialized competencies to maintain a state-of-the-art lab facility
• Design and execute experiments, conduct assay development, interpret data, draft technical reports and SOPs.
• Perform resource management and monitor inventory of supplies, equipment, and reagents used, and place orders for replacements as required and contribute to all relevant common departmental responsibilities.
• A good team player with strong interpersonal skills who shows willingness to assist other laboratory personnel when required.

Preferred candidate profile

• Ph.D. in Stem cell biology, Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, or a related field with 7-9 years experience or Masters with 10-12 years experience.
• Age will not be constraint in deserving cases.

Desired Expectations

• Proficient in handling mammalian cell culture and performing molecular biology assays including Immunostaining, SDS-PAGE, Western Blotting and Brightfield/Fluorescence microscopy.
• Keep current with changes in laboratory procedures.
• An inquisitive and fast learner who keeps abreast with latest scientific developments in his/her areas of work and related fields.
• Good at Project Management, Scheduling, Execution, Reviews and Reporting/Escalation, Delivery.
