Storage Administrator

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Storage Administrator to manage and support enterprise-level storage systems with a focus on Dell Powerstore, Netapp, HP 3PAR and Hitachi storage solutions as primary skill sets. The ideal candidate will also have working knowledge of BackupExec and Acronis for secondary backup and recovery tasks. This role involves ensuring the availability, reliability, and performance of storage infrastructure while maintaining robust data protection strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

1. NetApp Storage Administration
• Configure and manage NetApp ONTAP systems, including AFF and FAS series.
• Perform volume provisioning, Snapshot management, and data replication using SnapMirror.
• Monitor system performance and perform capacity planning.
• Implement and manage CIFS/NFS shares, LUNs, and iSCSI targets.
2. Dell Storage Administration
• Administer Dell EMC storage solutions, including Unity, PowerStore, or PowerMax.
• Handle storage provisioning, replication, and performance tuning.
• Integrate Dell storage with virtualization and backup solutions.
• Maintain SAN zoning and connectivity with Dell switches and storage.

3. HP 3PAR Administration

• Proven experience in managing HP 3PAR Storage systems, including provisioning, replication, snapshots, and disaster recovery.
• Strong knowledge of SAN, NAS, iSCSI, and Fibre Channel technologies.
• Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, or OpenStack, and how they integrate with HP 3PAR.
• Hands-on experience with HP 3PAR CLI, Management Console, and other management tools.

1. Hitachi Storage Administration
• Manage and maintain Hitachi Vantara storage arrays (e.g., VSP, HUS).
• Configure RAID groups, LUNs, and dynamic tiering for optimal performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to storage connectivity and performance.
• Perform firmware upgrades and patch management on Hitachi systems.

Secondary Responsibilities

1. BackupExec Administration
• Configure and manage BackupExec solutions for backup and recovery tasks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with failed jobs and recovery scenarios.
2. Acronis Administration
• Set up and manage Acronis for endpoint and server backups.
• Implement and maintain cloud-based or hybrid backup solutions using Acronis tools.

General Responsibilities

• Perform regular storage health checks and monitoring.
• Create and maintain documentation for storage configurations, policies, and procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement storage solutions for business needs.
• Plan and execute disaster recovery tests for storage systems.
• Monitor storage utilization and recommend upgrades or optimizations.
• Ensure compliance with data retention and security policies.

Key Skills and Competencies

Mandatory Skills

• Expertise in NetApp ONTAP, Hitachi VSP/HUS, and Dell EMC Unity/PowerStore/PowerMax administration.
• Proficiency in SAN, NAS, and iSCSI storage management.
• Hands-on experience with storage performance monitoring and tuning.
• Knowledge of backup integration with storage systems.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with BackupExec and Acronis backup and recovery solutions.
• Familiarity with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and their integration with storage systems.
• Understanding of storage networking concepts, including SAN switches, zoning, and multipathing.
• Scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Python, or Bash) for automation of storage tasks.

Educational Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience as a Storage Administrator with NetApp, Hitachi, and Dell solutions.
• 2+ years of experience with BackupExec and Acronis.
