Job Description

JOB REQUISITES

Role Summary

WSP India is currently seeking Quantity Surveyor/ Estimator for our Australia Mining infrastructure Projects (Materials Handling Infrastructure). Candidate should have Experience in estimation of multi project programs in complex environments of O & G, Power, Mat. Handling/Mining processing plant EPCM projects with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare Bills of Quantities, tender documents, addendums, contract documents, and pricing strategies while managing contract variations.
  • Review technical specifications, Bills of Quantities, engineering processes, cost estimations, rate analyses, and overall contract management.
  • Lead the tendering process, including bid evaluations, tender reporting, and contractor/supplier recommendations.
  • Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation to calculate quantity of material, labor, and equipment requirements.
  • Conduct cost research and analyze pricing data from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with project management teams to ensure accurate and timely cost estimations.
  • Maintain and update the cost database and estimating templates to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Prepare, analyze, and present cost reports at various project phases and stage gates using P6 or relevant software tools.
  • Regularly track actual expenditures against the budget and forecast future costs, identifying variances and trends.
  • Prepare precise cost estimates for multi-project programmes during various design stages (Concept, Schematic, Tender, drawings, constructions, commissioning).
  • Develop and maintain project cost reports, forecasts, and budgets, highlighting variances and potential risks.
  • Conduct value engineering exercises to enhance project value while reducing costs and maintaining quality.
  • Prepare and manage main/subcontract agreements, ensuring risk mitigation and adherence to commercial terms.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Assess capital and revenue expenditure over the project life cycle.
  • Identify and propose mitigation strategies for potential risks in budgeting and costs.
  • Assist in preparing and negotiating claims and dispute resolutions per contractual terms.
  • Evaluate contractor submissions and provide timely feedback/approvals.
  • Ensure project compliance with employer requirements, specifications, and standards.
  • Review project budgets, payments, variations, and claims, reporting inefficiencies or contractual issues.
  • Provide regular updates on project financial health using financial reporting systems and tools.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting systems and project controls processes.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Familiarity with risk recognition, mitigation strategies, and dispute resolution processes.
  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as directed by management.

Mandatory Skills

  • 8-12 years Experience with procurement in O & G, Power, Mat. Handling/Mining processing industry experience.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems related to procurement.
  • Analytical mindset for cost modeling and spend analysis.
  • Excellent organizational and reporting abilities.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Desired Skills

  • 8-12 years Valuable experience in Quantity Surveyor/Estimation is considered as asset
  • Understanding management of changes implications
  • Understanding Earned Value Management guiding principles considered a plus.
  • Must be able to analyse the effect of schedule performance on project completion
  • Must be time flexible and able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail is critical
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with other analytics tools such as Power Point, Excel, Power BI & equivalent dashboards.
  • Must be Flexible to attend meetings outside office hours or early in the morning to align with Australian time.
  • Previous experience in an EPCM environment in the O & G, Power, Mat. Handling/Mining processing industry is an asset.

Qualifications

  • Must have minimum 8-12 years of experience post-graduation, preferably relating to a large-scale professional services work environment
  • Degree holder with Engineering + MBA-Operations management or diploma or certificate in Quantity Surveying or construction management or other applicable area would be an asset.
  • Work experience on AU/NZ projects would be advantageous.
  • PMP certification would be advantageous.
