About the Team
You will lead the Workday Engineering and Staging QA Environments and DevOps teams, overseeing the large-scale deployment of the Workday stack across our Private Data Centers and Public Cloud Systems Verification (SVT) test environments.
About the Role
Lead a team of talented software development engineers responsible for a hybrid of software engineering and operations, with an emphasis on reducing operational toil
Tech stack is Cloud Native (Kubernetes, Argo, Prometheus, Grafana etc)
Growing a software engineering culture of software centric approaches to improving operational efficiency
Responsible for the the provisioning, change and reliability of public cloud environments
Own end-to-end availability and performance of key services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence.
Develop effective SLIs and ensure that SLOs are achieved through building an extendable Observability architecture, runbook automation, and establishing processes
Improve platform reliability, observability and overall customer satisfaction.
Partner with platform teams to design and implement a range of SRE standards for their respective services to meet. Define benchmarks and automation to qualify services to move to production environments.
Triage issues and prioritize team backlog
Hire, mentor and grow high performing engineers
Manage on-call rotations across continents, using a follow-the-sun model
Continuously improve productivity and expertise of the team
About You
The ideal candidate will have a strong software/systems engineering background and be able to converse easily with customers, product management and engineers switching gears as necessary. We want candidates who are excited about technology and people.
Basic Qualifications
You are an experienced hands-on leader who is passionate about making other people successful
5+ years managing software development/engineering/devops teams
Experience running production systems at scale on public cloud
Expertise with monitoring and alerting frameworks
Experience leading automation framework teams with a strong focus on customer and user feedback is highly valued
Experience with CI/CD release pipelines, collaborating with change enablement and release teams to optimize mean time metrics, and improving release testing and build times for faster delivery
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Infra/Platform groups, working with cloud-native technologies, and proficiency in at least one public cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure) is big plus
Other Qualifications
Excellent communication and presentation skills. Communication skills both written and verbal.
5+ years of experience in building scalable distributed systems
Ability to build strong relationships with diverse teams within an organization.
Good understanding of SRE practices and principles to build resilient systems and to provide business continuity.
Partner with service owners to implement Service Level Metrics Service Level Objectives that act as service level health indicators.
Experience collaborating with the change enablement and release teams to enhance mean time metrics, improving release and build times for faster deliver
Experience in Cloud and Container platform Strategies, Design, Architecture and Migration.
Ability to synthesize complex problems and technical concepts and communicate out across various levels of the organization, including executive.
