Translational Research Scientist

Job Description Summary As a Translational Research Scientist, you will be involved in Activities contributing to the development of algorithms (analytical/AI-based) for medical image segmentation, and development of user-interface (UI) based prototypes for visualization-applications.

The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures and this role also impacts departmental operations and is responsible for planning/execution.

• Development of algorithms (analytical/AI-based) for advanced medical image segmentation, using Python framework, and development of UI-based prototypes
• Gather insights on clinical scenarios/use-cases relevant to the algorithms being developed, along with insights on workflow
• Leverage prior subject-matter experience in algorithm development (using python framework for analytical and AI-based methods), and UI-based prototype development (using C/C++)
• Observership in algorithm feedback, usability feedback, and evaluation studies - both internally and externally
• Documentation related to algorithm development and prototype-development.
• Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
• A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills and provides informal guidance to new team members.

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or STEM Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with a minimum of 6+ years.

• Advanced experience in algorithm development (analytical and AI-based image processing) using Python, and Advanced experience in C/C++ based UI development
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
