Senior Network and Systems Engineer

Key Responsibilities:
Networking:

• Manage and troubleshoot network issues like packet loss, latency, and connectivity across a dynamic data center environment.
• Configure and maintain network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Implement and manage BGP configurations, IP announcements, and route optimization.
• Mitigate DDoS attacks using advanced tools and best practices.
• Collaborate with upstream providers and manage peering sessions to ensure optimal service availability.

Systems Administration and Technical Support:

• Provide expert-level support for dedicated servers, virtual machines, colocation services, and IP transit.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues related to Linux/Windows systems.
• Conduct root cause analyses for infrastructure challenges and implement durable solutions.
• Optimize IP routing and manage null-routed IPs to maintain network efficiency.

Task Ownership and Accountability:

• Take full ownership of tasks, ensuring timely and efficient execution.
• Provide progress updates and escalate issues proactively when necessary.
• Maintain thorough documentation for seamless collaboration across shifts.
• Anticipate challenges, propose solutions, and ensure operational continuity.

Infrastructure Management:

• Oversee the performance, reliability, and security of multi-data center infrastructure.
• Lead capacity planning and scaling efforts to align with business needs.
• Manage advanced DNS configurations, Anycast technologies, and traffic optimization.

Mentorship and Collaboration:

• Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge on advanced networking and systems topics.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for internal processes.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and implement infrastructure improvements.

What Were Looking For:
Technical Skills:

• 5+ years of experience in network engineering or systems administration.
• Mastery of networking protocols like BGP, OSPF, and GRE.
• Expertise in configuring and managing Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent devices.
• Advanced Linux/Unix systems administration skills.
• Experience with DDoS mitigation, IP transit, and large-scale networks.

Soft Skills:

• Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills under pressure.
• Proactive and detail-oriented with a strong sense of accountability.

Preferred Certifications:

• CCNP, JNCIS, RHCE, or equivalent certifications.
• Cybersecurity or DDoS mitigation-related certifications are a plus.
