Job Description

Qualifications:The candidate must hold a Masters degree in Biological Sciences / Wildlife Sciences / Conservation / Ecology / allied subjects.
A Ph.
D.
in a related subject in the field of Wildlife Sciences / Conservation is desirable..
Work Experience And Essential Qualities.
Minimum work experience of 12-15 years required in wildlife conservation, appropriately trained in project management techniques and processes and with a proven record of managing large multi-donor multi-year conservation projects in India..
The candidate must have strong organization and prioritization, time-management, interpersonal skills, and critical thinking.
He/she must have an excellent written and oral communication skills and capable of articulating complex technical issues for a wide range of target audiences..
Sound knowledge of protected area management, landscape conservation, ecosystem restoration, human-wildlife conflict mitigation and effects of linear infrastructure on landscape ecology is a must..
Preference will be given to a candidate having working experience of working on conservation issues in Nilgiri landscape, Shola forest and Western Ghats..
Key Responsibilities.
Leading the team of project staff and consultants to achieve the desired project impact in a timely manner.
Developing project implementation and monitoring plans, preparing operational budget in coordination with PI and Co-PI.
Managing project risks, including the development of contingency plans.
Co-ordinate with different thematic Division Heads and field teams to allocate resources to help implement project activities.
Liaison with Forest Department, line agencies, conservation partners and other stakeholders in the landscape..
Establish and maintain systems (monitoring, attendance, expenditure, budgeting) to ensure effective project implementation.
Undertake timely and periodic monitoring and review of project activities and ensure necessary mid-term course correction of project plans and budgets.
Suggest course correction in the project based on the monitoring and review and effectiveness of strategies and activities, and.
Ensure quality work on the ground with desired technical and managerial support to the project team.
Ensure timely submission of project deliverables to the donor and other government agencies..
Ensure financial management in line with budgets and relevant finance policies of the organization and donor agency.
Maintain high level of motivation in the team and ensure adherence to good HR practise and policy..
The Project Head is expected to spend 50% of the time on technical supervision, planning, monitoring and review of the project, 30% time in producing deliverables, and the remaining 20% time on coordination and liaising with stakeholders and government agencies..
