CMM Operator

CMM Operator Key Responsibilities:

1. Inspection and Measurement:

• Perform dimensional inspections using CMM equipment as per specifications and engineering drawings.
• Interpret blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and CAD models for measurement requirements.
• Measure complex geometries to ensure part conformity and precision.

2. Programming and Operation:

• Create, edit, and troubleshoot CMM programs (commonly in PC-DMIS, Poly works, Calypso, or similar software).
• Operate and maintain CMM equipment for efficient workflow.
• Conduct first article inspections and generate FAI reports.

3. Data Analysis and Reporting:

• Analyze measurement results and document deviations from specified tolerances.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports and ensure data accuracy.
• Communicate findings with quality, production, and engineering teams.

4. Tool and Equipment Maintenance:

• Perform regular calibration of CMM machines to maintain accuracy.
• Identify and report equipment malfunctions or issues.
• Ensure proper care and handling of inspection tools and gauges.

5. Compliance and Safety:

• Follow safety guidelines while operating machines and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards (ISO 9001, AS9100, or equivalent).

6. Continuous Improvement:

• Suggest and implement process improvements for inspection procedures.
• Collaborate with teams to resolve quality-related issues.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma
• At least 3-4 years of related experience within a CMM Machine operating & inspection.
• Proficiency in CMM software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Poly works).
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and the ability to interpret engineering drawings.
• Hands-on experience with CMM equipment and inspection tools like micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills to address inspection and quality issues.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in measurement and reporting.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies or processes.
