Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Management
Coding & Documentation Compliance
OASIS & Plan of Care Review
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Improvement
Serve as a liaison between coding staff and clinical teams, providing educational support and clarification on documentation standards, coding inquiries, and regulatory changes.
Work closely with Intake, Billing, and Compliance departments to ensure seamless processes from referral to claim submission.
Participate in case conferences, staff meetings, and strategic planning sessions to promote informed decision-making around coding and documentation practices.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education & Certifications:
Registered Nurse (RN) or Physical Therapist (PT), Occupational Therapist (OT), or Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) strongly preferred, or equivalent clinical background.
Current certification in Comprehensive OASIS Review (e.g., COS-C) and a Plan of Care certification (e.g., HCS-D, BCHH-C, or other recognized credential in home health coding).
Bachelors degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in home health coding (ICD-10), OASIS review, and care planning, with proven track record of accuracy and compliance.
Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred, with demonstrated ability to coach and mentor team members.
Skills & Abilities:
In-depth understanding of CMS regulations, PDGM/PDPM payment models, OASIS data set, and related quality measures.
Advanced knowledge of ICD-10 coding guidelines and the ability to interpret clinical documentation effectively.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to translate complex regulations into actionable guidance for staff.
Strong organizational, time-management, and analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficient in electronic medical record (EMR) systems and related home health software.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
Primarily an office-based role, with the potential for remote/hybrid work arrangements depending on agency policy.
Occasional travel to branch offices or for in-person trainings.
Ability to sit for extended periods while reviewing documentation.
May occasionally require light lifting of supplies or documents.
Performance Evaluation Criteria:
Accuracy and timeliness of coding and OASIS assessments.
Compliance with CMS regulations and agency guidelines.
Effectiveness in staff development, team leadership, and overall productivity.
Contribution to quality assurance, performance improvement goals, and financial accuracy of claims.
Collaboration and communication effectiveness across interdisciplinary teams
