Advertising Technology
Ever wondered what would a convergence of online and offline advertising systems look like? Ever wondered how we can bridge the gap between sponsored search, display, video ad formats? Ever thought how we can write our own ad servers which serve billions of requests in near real-time?
Our Advertising Technology team is building an end-to-end advertising platform that is key to Walmart s overall growth strategy. We use cutting edge machine learning, data mining and optimization algorithms to ingest, model, and analyze Walmart s proprietary online and in-store data, encompassing 95% of American households. Importantly, we build smart data systems that deliver relevant retail ads and experiences that connect our customers with the brands and products they love.
What You ll do
Build systems to process and derive insights from high-dimensional, fast-moving, unstructured and structured data.
Work with Data Scientists to build and deploy machine learning and statistical models to predict or estimate key signals that are used to optimize advertising product performance.
Run large-scale statistical A/B testing to evaluate the performance of machine learning and statistical models in advertising applications that serve hundreds of millions of impressions per day.
Build compelling data visualizations and interactive dashboards for monitoring and sharing of business insights internally and externally.
Enable data scientists, business and product partners to fully leverage our platform
What You ll Bring
Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science or related field with 3-6 years of software development experience.
Writing scalable, performant, maintainable code in one or more of the languages - Core Java, Scala, Node.js, Python
Experience with Big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark
Experience with event-based architecture such as Kafka, Rabbitmq, ActiveMQ etc.
Hands-on experience in implementing modern software development practices like Agile (Scrum), BDD, TDD, etc.
Experience or understanding of Machine learning model building is a big plus
Experience with containerization using Docker and orchestration using Kubernetes is a plus
Great communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex concepts and techniques in simple terms relevant to the needs of the business.
Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
Good knowledge of common software development tools/technologies (Git, Java, Eclipse, Apache, MySQL, Oracle, NoSql databases, etc.).
Basic understanding of Data Science and models.
Experience in advertising domain.
Experience in Big Data applications
Experience developing with web/app containers such as Apache/Tomcat
Follows the industry trends in the online world
Good knowledge of High performance Stream processing, Large Scale Messaging Systems
Experience with designing systems for scale with Object-Oriented design concepts
