Business Intelligence Engineer

Required Services: BI Engineer (Preference to Women Candidates)

Location: Delhi, India (Remote)

Client: Federal Government

Background information:

Client requires a contractor for the role of BI Engineer that will be responsible for turning data into critical information or knowledge that can be used to make better business decisions, as well as designing the whole BI systems (along with others).

BI Engineers work closely with customers and BI Data Analysts providing data that is accurate, congruent and reliable and is easily accessible. They will be responsible for training customers to use the data as an analytical tool, displaying the information in new forms and content for the purpose of analysis and exploring options.

Required Profile:

The selected candidate will need the following skills and experience:

• 5+ years of professional experience in Business Intelligence, Data Management, Information

Systems and other related fields is required.

• 2+ years of experience with BI tools as Power BI, Qlik or Tableau
• 3+ years of experience with data integration, cleansing, ETL related areas.
• 3+ years of experience with Reporting tools as Reporting Services, Business Object or Cognos
• 3+ years of strong experience writing Programs using PL/SQL and queries using SQL.

Scope of Work / Duties of Consultant:

The key responsibilities of the BI engineer include:

• Data cleaning and processing
• Data warehousing solutions
• Supervise and develop extraction, transformation and load (ETL) processes
• Data modelling
• Data mining
• Storytelling and visualization
• Reporting Solutions

Additionally, the incumbent will have to perform the below core tasks:

• Running proof of concepts and investigating opportunities for the use of innovative solutions to help

define the strategic direction and platform(s).

• Assisting to define the data engineering strategy, solutions and roadmaps, ensuring they meet

business requirements and performance goals.

• Responsible for ensuring that the production services are optimally configured and aligned to best

practices to protect production data.

• Development of data consumption and data storage platforms (e.g. Google Cloud Storage, Big

Query, SQL, NoSQL, Data Warehouse, Data Lake, Hadoop, Oracle, Teradata etc.).

• Development of data manipulation services using BI best practices (e.g. machine learning, stored

procedures, USQL, TSQL, ETL, scripting (Python or R) etc.).

• Design conceptual and logical data models and flowcharts
• Creating reports and dashboards using leading edge visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau or

Qlik.

• Working with the team to produce end-to-end solutions for new and existing projects.
• Developing innovative and engaging ways to tell stories through data creating engaging, easily

interpretable and memorable ways of visualizing these data as well as being able to provide a

capability to answer simple insight & data questions in a timely fashion.

• Support DBA and developers to build data warehousing systems for BI, reporting and analytics.
• Assist in data administration, modelling and integration activities in data warehouse systems.
• Address BI queries and issues in a timely fashion and recommend enhancements to optimize BI

processes.

• Maintain documentations for all BI processes.

Required Technical Skills:

The resource MUST have the following skills and experience:

• Database skills using SQL to create/maintain database objects, query and load data required.
• Solid experience designing partitioned and non-partitioned tables, indexes, temporary tables and

external tables to maximize storage and performance

• Strong SQL development, SQL analytics and tuning skills
• Experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), web services, enterprise data management,

information security, applications development, and cloud-based architectures with federal clients.

• Knowledge of Agile development methodology and concepts.

The resource SHOULD have the following skills and experience:

• Experience with at least one of the following: Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL,
• Excellent analytic, troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
• Detail oriented with strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to analyze complex and large amounts of data
• Strong communications skills (both verbal & written)
• Knowledge of configuration management and version control processes

Required Soft Skills:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills
• High degree of initiative, proactive and ability to work with little supervision
• Ability to deliver quality results
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey complex

topics through effective documentation as well as presentations to all levels of the organization

• Excellent organizational skills, reporting and documenting
• Ability to effectively collaborate with teams in an international, multicultural, multi-disciplinary

environment working under different time-zones

Desirable certifications:

• Advanced university degree (masters or equivalent) in computer science, engineering or other

relevant fields.

• A bachelor’s degree with five additional years of working experience is also acceptable
• Any Data certification as Microsoft Data Certifications, AWS Big Data Specialist, Cloudera, Microsoft Data Management and Analytics, Microsoft Azure Big Data Analytics Solution, Oracle BI Intelligence Foundation Plus or SAS Big Data will be a plus.
• Prince2 Agile, ITIL, SCRUM, etc. certifications preferre

Teleworking Option:
