Background information:

Data and Analytics team is looking for a Data engineer to help the team to deliver the new Data Strategy and Data Governance projects. The new consultant will be integrated in a multidisciplinary group with Data Architects, Master Data specialists, BI Engineers, Visualization Specialists, Business Analysts, Devops/DataOps engineers and Data strategy specialists to deliver key strategic Data solutions with cutting-edge technologies to UN and International organizations.

Required Profile:

UNICC is looking for a strong Data Engineer profile with excellent data solution implementation skills and knowledgeable on DataOps and Infrastructure. The candidate must be flexible, able to work in highly collaborative environment, prioritize across multiple competing tasks, work independently and be able to estimate and complete tasks on time. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience as Data engineer.

Scope of Work / Duties of Consultant:

Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

• Work with the team (technical Lead/Architect/other team members) and customer focal point to

understand the business need and design/implement the technical data management solution.

• Design and implement Data Solutions based on given requirements, specially using Open-Source

tools and technologies.

• Design and implement complex ELT/ETL processes using Open-Source tools like Spark, Kafka,

ClickHouse, among others.

• Implement and optimize complex transformations on different data sources such as JSON, XML,

EXCEL and CSV Files.

• Design and implement Data Lakes and Delta Lakes.
• Improve system performance by conducting tests, troubleshooting, and integrating new

elements.

Required Technical Skills:

The resource MUST have the following skills and experience:

• AWS platform expertise
• AWS platform Data services expert knowledge
• Proven experience working with SQL Databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, ClickHouse...) and NoSQL

Databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB, …).

• Python, PySpark, Spark SQL, T-SQL expert knowledge and experience
• Proven experience working with Data Lakes and Delta lakes
• Proven experience writing complex transformations and ingestion pipelines using Apache Spark,

Kafka, or others.

• Good scripting skills with PowerShell, bash Shell and Python.
• Knowledge on CI/CD pipelines in Bitbucket and CloudFormation stacks.

The resource SHOULD have the following skills and experience:

• Good written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills
• Ability to work in a team that is geographically dispersed and with teammates of different

cultures

• A high degree of initiative, being independent and able to work with little supervision.
• Be able to work in multiple projects at the same time
• A high level of personal integrity, as well as the ability to professionally handle confidential

matters, and show an appropriate level of judgement and maturity

• Ability to deliver quality results.
• Experience with Project Management methodologies (PRINCE2/PMP, SCRUM, Agile

methodology)

• Excellent technical documentation skills, and ability to deliver technical trainings
• Customer-centric approach to delivery and problem-solving skills
• AI/ML knowledge is a plus
• Business intelligence knowledge is a plus
• Strong English communication skills
• Basic knowledge of other recognized UN languages is desirable

Desirable certifications:

• Masters university degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology is a plus
• Any Microsoft or AWS Data Certification (Azure Data Engineer, AWS Big Data Specialist or others) is a plus
