About the Job:
We are seeking a highly accomplished and strategic Director of Engineering to lead our dynamic team and drive innovation in our embedded systems development.
This role requires a seasoned leader with a proven track record of successfully managing complex engineering projects, fostering collaborative relationships, and delivering exceptional results.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong business acumen and a deep understanding of the engineering landscape, enabling them to align technology strategy with business objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and execute the engineering strategy, aligning it with the overall business goals and product roadmap.
- Collaborate closely with the Executive Team and Business Leaders to understand market needs, identify opportunities, and define product requirements.
- Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Manage resource allocation, project prioritization, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Drive process improvements and implement best practices to enhance engineering efficiency and effectiveness.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including vendors, partners, and customers.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities to leverage them for competitive advantage.
- Contribute to the development of the company's intellectual property portfolio.
- Manage the engineering budget and ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Champion a culture of quality and ensure adherence to relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Provide regular updates to the Executive Team on engineering progress, challenges, and opportunities.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes employee engagement and growth.
- Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making processes.
Qualifications:
- Master's / Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, MBA or equivalent business qualification is a plus.
- 16+ years of relevant experience, preferably in a regional or global environment.
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in engineering management, demonstrating increasing responsibility and impact.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with Executive Teams and Business Leaders.
- Strong business acumen and understanding of financial principles.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and motivate high-performing teams.
- Strategic thinker with a proven track record of developing and executing successful engineering strategies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in managing complex projects and delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience working in a matrix organization is a plus.
- Experience in the automotive or embedded systems industry is highly desirable.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
