Job Description
- SQL Expertise: Strong ability to write, debug, and optimize SQL queries to validate data across source systems, staging areas, and reporting tables.
- ETL Testing: Experience in validating data flow in ETL pipelines, ensuring accuracy and consistency from source to destination (e.g., transactional databases, staging areas, final reporting tables).
- Automation Tools: Exposure to automation tools such as Selenium, Appium, and TestNG for automating functional and regression tests related to ETL processes and data pipelines.
- Python Scripting: Ability to write Python scripts for automating ETL tests, data validation, and performing API testing or integration tasks.
- Reporting Tools: Knowledge of validating report layouts, filters, aggregations, and charts in reporting tools (e.g., Jaspersoft, or any other popular BI tools).
- Health Checks: Ability to write SQL health checks for regular validation of data integrity and pipeline sanity (e.g., daily checks for data consistency).
- Root Cause Analysis: Proficient in identifying and reporting root causes of discrepancies in reports or data pipelines.
- Test Case Preparation: Ability to write solid test cases for Reporting and Enterprise Data Warehousing (EDW), ensuring minimal test coverage gaps.
- Effective Communication: Skilled in communicating complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders clearly and effectively.
- ETL Testing: Design and execute test cases for validating data extraction, transformation, and loading from source to target systems, ensuring accurate reporting and business intelligence.
- Data Validation: Validate data in transactional databases, staging areas, and final reporting tables, ensuring that the data meets the expected business rules and transformations.
- Test Case Development: Develop comprehensive test cases for Reporting and EDW systems, ensuring full coverage of reporting requirements and data flows.
- Reporting Analytics Validation: Validate the layout, filters, aggregations, and charts in reporting tools (e.g., Jaspersoft, or other BI tools), ensuring reports are accurate and formatted correctly.
- Root Cause Identification: Investigate and report root causes of any discrepancies in ETL processes or reports, working with technical teams to resolve issues.
- Health Check Automation: Develop and implement SQL-based health checks and Python scripts to monitor the sanity of data in pipelines, ensuring regular validation and early detection of issues.
