Sourcing Fabric Manager

Role & responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate potential fabric suppliers locally. Negotiate and purchase fabrics based on the companys needs.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with fabric manufacturers and suppliers. Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to fabric quality, lead times, or pricing.
• Work closely with the Quality Control (QC) team to ensure that fabrics meet the required standards for texture, durability, colorfastness, and any other specifications.
• Stay up-to-date with fabric trends, innovations, and new suppliers. Identify new fabric sources or alternative materials that can improve cost efficiency or product quality.
• Manage fabric sourcing costs and ensure that budgets are adhered to. Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and other contract terms with fabric suppliers.
• Ensure that fabrics sourced comply with environmental, ethical, and legal standards. Work on sourcing sustainable fabrics or eco-friendly materials.
• Coordinate with the production team to ensure that fabric stock levels meet production requirements without overstocking.
• Oversee the fabric sample process, ensuring that new fabric samples meet specifications and are approved for production.
• Maintain accurate records of fabric orders, delivery schedules, and contracts. Provide reports on sourcing activities, fabric usage, and cost analysis.

Preferred candidate profile

• 15- 20 years of experience in textile industry with expertise in fabric sourcing, supply chain management, and vendor relations.
• Bachelor's degree in Textile (B.Tech/B.E.) or equivalent qualification required; MBA/PGDM preferred.
• Strong understanding of technical skills such as textile knowledge, product development collaboration, cost management & budgeting.
