Mep Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary:

The MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, planning, installation, and maintenance of mechanical systems within building infrastructure projects. The role includes overseeing the mechanical components such as HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), plumbing, fire protection systems, and other mechanical aspects, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, quality standards, and cost-effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design & Development:
• Develop and design mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, etc.) for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings.
• Prepare detailed drawings, calculations, and specifications for mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with building codes, energy efficiency standards, and safety regulations.
• Select appropriate equipment and systems for specific project requirements.
• Coordinate with architects, electrical engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure an integrated approach to building design.
• Project Management:
• Oversee mechanical design implementation, ensuring timelines and budgets are adhered to.
• Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure mechanical systems are installed as per design specifications.
• Provide technical support during construction and commissioning of mechanical systems.
• Review and approve shop drawings, submittals, and as-built drawings for mechanical systems.
• Site Inspections & Testing:
• Conduct site inspections to ensure the installation of mechanical systems meets design standards and project specifications.
• Perform testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance.
• Identify and resolve any technical issues that arise during construction or testing phases.
• Compliance & Documentation:
• Ensure all mechanical systems are designed, installed, and operated in compliance with relevant local, national, and international codes and standards.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports.
• Assist with the preparation of operation and maintenance manuals for mechanical systems.
• Sustainability & Energy Efficiency:
• Promote energy-efficient mechanical solutions and the use of sustainable materials and practices.
• Evaluate and propose mechanical systems that reduce energy consumption and environmental impact.
• Client Interaction & Reporting:
• Communicate effectively with clients, providing updates on project status and addressing any concerns related to mechanical systems.
• Assist in the preparation of bids, proposals, and project cost estimates.

Required Qualifications:

• Education:
• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Relevant certifications such as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), HVAC Design, or equivalent are a plus.
• Experience:
• 5-6 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on MEP design, installation, and management.
• Experience in designing HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical systems for commercial, residential, or industrial buildings.
• Knowledge of building codes, industry standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.), and relevant local regulations.
