Job Description
We are looking for Versatile, curious, and energetic Staff Software Engineer who embrace solving complex challenges on a global scale. As a Visa Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of a multi-functional development team inventing, designing, building, and testing software products that reach a truly global customer base. While building components of powerful payment technology, you will get to see your efforts shaping the digital future of monetary transactions.
Essential Responsibilities :
- Prepare technical documents, develop code, review code, build environment, review test results, and prepare plan for implementation
- Analyze technical impact, stability, and functionality due to any custom change
- Manage small to medium-sized project/initiatives as an individual contributor with advanced knowledge within discipline.
- Evaluate code to ensure it is valid, meets industry standards and is compatible with devices and/or operating systems
- Develop or validate test routines and schedules to ensure that test cases mimic external interfaces
- Proactively identify defects in software code and isolate/contain the defects to prevent customer impact.
- Build partnerships with product management to ensure that the products being built deliver real value
- Identify problems uncovered by testing or customer feedback and correct problems
Preferred Qualifications:
- 8 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 6 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (eg Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
- 8-12 years development role experience on MVS/OS390 batch application
- 6+ years development role experience in COBOL/JCL/ISPF
- 6+ years development role experience using FILE-AID
- 6+ years development role experience using ESP, CA7 or another scheduling software
- Ability to solve complex software development/design issues
- Ability to write clean, coherent code following established coding guidelines
- Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and effective communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to present complex ideas in a clear, concise way
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills
- Ability to work independently exhibiting strong multitasking and time management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication (oral & written) skills including the ability to translate technical issues/concepts into ways for non-technical staff to understand
- General knowledge of EFT settlement and transaction processing is a plus
- REXX/Control-M experience is a plus
- Connex/Advantage settlement application is a plus
- Past experience in the Payment industry is a plus
