Job Description

Applications are invited for temporary posts of Project Associate for an industrial research/consultancy Project in the School of Mechanical Engineering (SMEC) at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) Vellore. (CP24-25-0070 dated 05/12/2024)

Title of the Project

Thermo-viscoelastic modeling of an elastomeric material and its validation .

Qualification

Ph.D. / M. Tech / M.E in Mechanical Engineering/Engineering Design/Applied Mechanics, or a related engineering field with two years of experience. Candidates with fresh Ph.D. and those pursuing Ph.D. are also eligible to apply.

Essential requirements

Candidates must have experience in at least one of the following: MATLAB / Mathematica / COMSOL / Abaqus-UMAT / FORTRAN. Candidates with experience in numerical solving of PDE/DAEs and/or Finite element implementation of user defined material models will be preferred.

Desired requirements

Knowledge in any of the following is desirable.

Nonlinear solid mechanics /Nonlinear Finite element, Computational continuum mechanics /Constitutive modeling - Hyperelasticity, Viscoelasticity /Experimental study of elastomers.

Stipend

Consolidated pay of INR 40,000 per month. Higher pay can be considered based on qualification, suitable experience and work performance.
