production manager : plastic injection moulding

Key Responsibilities:

• Production Oversight: Plan, coordinate, and monitor daily injection moulding production activities, prioritizing efficiency, safety, and quality.
• Process Optimization: Continuously assess and refine moulding processes to reduce cycle times, material waste, and defect rates while maintaining high-quality standards.
• Tool and Machine Management: Ensure proper setup, calibration, and maintenance of injection moulding machines and tools with complex features (e.g., sliders and inserts) to maximize lifespan and minimize downtime.
• Quality Assurance: Work closely with quality control teams to establish and maintain stringent quality checks, ensuring products meet customer specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Material Handling and Processing: Manage processing parameters for a range of thermoplastics (ABS, Nylon, PP) to achieve optimal results in appearance, strength, and durability.
• Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Identify and resolve issues in the moulding process, from equipment malfunctions to material inconsistencies, minimizing production interruptions.
• Training and Development: Train, mentor, and lead production staff in best practices, safety protocols, and quality standards, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Data Analysis and Reporting: Monitor production metrics, analyze output and quality data, and report on productivity, efficiency, and quality targets.
• Lean Manufacturing and Cost Control: Implement lean manufacturing principles to streamline operations, reduce waste, and control costs, contributing to overall business goals.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in injection moulding production, specifically with small, intricate parts and tools with sliders, inserts, etc.
• Technical Expertise: Proficient in processing and handling thermoplastics such as ABS, Nylon, and PP, with a strong understanding of their unique properties and processing requirements.
• Equipment Knowledge: Hands-on experience with injection moulding machinery, including setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of advanced tools and components.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze production metrics, troubleshoot issues, and identify areas for improvement.
• Leadership Skills: Strong leadership abilities with a proven track record of managing production teams effectively, including training and mentoring.
• Problem Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills, especially in high-stakes production environments where quick, effective decision-making is crucial.
• Educational Background: Degree or certification in Plastics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management standards and experience working in an ISO-certified environment.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
• Proficiency with manufacturing software for tracking and reporting production data.
