Job Description

Role & responsibilities

The General Manager - Business Continuity Management will lead and manage Business Continuity Management (BCM) operations globally for VFS Global, ensuring the resilience of its services across all regions and functions. This role involves developing and maintaining BCM strategies, conducting risk assessments, and driving global initiatives to enhance preparedness, mitigate risks, and ensure uninterrupted service delivery.


Business Continuity Program Development and Documentation

  • Create and implement a business-wide Business Continuity (BC) Management program using industry best practices and frameworks.
  • Conduct Business Impact Analysis (BIA), Risk Assessment (RA), and create Risk Treatment Plans (RTP) and Business Continuity Recovery Strategies.
  • Develop and regularly update documentation related to the BCMS framework, including risk treatment methodology, recovery strategies, and plans.
  • Collate, maintain, and digitize all documents, evidence, and records related to BCMS operations globally.
  • Assist in creating tools and templates to aid in the digitization of BCMS.

Crisis Management, Training, and Testing

  • Act as the primary point of contact during Crisis or contingency to coordinate Crisis Management and BC efforts.
  • Establish a company-wide Crisis Management framework to mitigate the effects of crises and equip teams for various scenarios.
  • Plan and develop training and awareness programs to inculcate a culture of Business Continuity within processes as a business-as-usual activity.
  • Plan and conduct a range of tests and exercises to evaluate the BCMS, including live testing at VFS locations, ensuring compliance with client requirements.
  • Support Internal and Third-Party Risk & Business Continuity compliance and maintain the Risk Register.

Risk and Client Relationship Management

  • Monitor evolving threats and past risks to forecast trends and enhance risk preparedness.
  • Collaborate with other functions and external vendors to review and test their BCM/DR plans.
  • Front-end client relationships to understand and meet BCMS requirements.
  • Assist business, sales, operations, and CRM teams by identifying and managing risks in client bids and proposals.
  • Use management system tools to enhance BCMS and maintain compliance to exceed internal and external requirements.

Team Management & Succession Planning

  • Manage and develop staff, including performance management, training, and career development.
  • Create and maintain a robust talent pipeline to ensure succession planning (1:2 ratio).

Environment, Social & Governance

  • Oversee corporate governance within the assigned region, ensuring alignment with organizational principles, policies, and regulations.
  • Promote judicious use of natural resources and adhere to the organization's environment, health, and safety policies, objectives, and guidelines.
  • Drive the organization's sustainability initiatives, working towards achieving established targets.

Anti Bribery Management Systems (ABMS)

  • Follow the ABMS roles and responsibilities details as prescribed on the ABMS manual.

a. Understanding of ethical standards and the importance of integrity in business practices.

b. Ability to identify and evaluate risks related to bribery in various business contexts. For more detailed explanation, follow the ABMS manual.


Preferred candidate profile

Experience

  • 15+ years of relevant experience is required. Experience in the service industry, IT or Banking is preferred.
  • Proven experience in leading at least 1-2 full lifecycle implementations of Business Continuity Management Systems compliant with BS 25999 or ISO 22301, along with hands-on experience in internal and external audits, including audits by certification bodies like TUV, DNV, or BSI.
  • Mandatory practitioner certification in Business Continuity from reputable institutions such as BCI or DRI (e.g., CBCP/MBCI), with additional certifications like ISO 22301, BS 25999, CISA, or ISO 27001 being preferred.
