Deputy Manager- Procurement (Imported Fruits)

The Procurement Lead role will be responsible for managing and overseeing the end-to-end procurement process for imported fruits. This role requires a keen understanding of agricultural supply chains, supplier relationships, and procurement best practices, combined with strong leadership and strategic thinking to drive cost-efficiency, product quality, and sustainability across the company's operations.

(Preferred Candidates from Mumbai area, who has worked in the Imports Procurement market/ Industry and knows the nitty-gritty of Imports as a function with practical and business understanding)

Role & responsibilities:

A) Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Management:

• Develop and implement sourcing strategies for fruits, ensuring a consistent supply of high-quality produce.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers, farmers, and cooperatives.
• Conduct supplier evaluations, audits, and performance reviews to ensure alignment with quality, delivery, and sustainability standards.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings while maintaining quality.

B )Procurement Planning and Execution:

• Work closely with cross-functional teams (Sales, Operations, R&D, etc.) to forecast demand and plan procurement activities accordingly.
• Manage the procurement budget, track expenses, and ensure adherence to financial targets.
• Oversee the timely and accurate delivery of fruits to meet business needs, ensuring minimal disruptions.

C) Quality Assurance and Compliance:

• Ensure that all procured products meet the company's quality standards, including safety regulations and certifications.
• Monitor and enforce compliance with sustainability practices, including organic sourcing, waste reduction, and ethical labor standards.
• Work with quality control teams to establish product specifications and resolve any quality-related issues.

D) Risk Management and Cost Optimization:

• Identify and mitigate risks related to procurement, such as supply shortages, price fluctuations, and geopolitical issues.
• Continuously assess and implement strategies to optimize procurement costs without compromising quality.

E) Market Analysis and Innovation:

• Stay informed about market trends, seasonality, and new technologies that can impact procurement processes and product offerings.

Education: Bachelors degree or A Masters degree.

Preferred candidate profile:

• Minimum of 4-7 years of experience of procurement of Fruits Or Vegetables.
• Proven experience managing procurement for fresh produce, fruits, or other agricultural products.
• Candidates from other Industry also who has worked in the procurement of Imported Items/ Products are open to apply if they are willing to explore to work in F& V Industry

• Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
