Job Description :
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) with over 10 years of hands-on experience in managing Oracle databases, optimizing performance, and tuning SQL. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge in performance tuning, SQL optimization, AWS database management, and cross-platform migrations. This role will also involve working with backup and recovery techniques, including Flashback technology, while managing mission-critical databases in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Oracle Database Management : Manage and administer Oracle databases, ensuring they are optimized for performance, high availability, and security across both production and non-production environments.
- Performance Tuning : Conduct performance tuning and optimization of databases and SQL queries to meet performance benchmarks and resolve performance issues efficiently.
- SQL Tuning : Design and optimize SQL queries and PL/SQL code to ensure the highest level of efficiency and speed.
- Cross-Platform Migration : Perform Oracle database migrations across platforms (on-premises to cloud, version upgrades, etc.) with minimal downtime and zero data loss.
- Backup and Recovery : Plan, implement, and manage robust database backup and recovery strategies using Oracle RMAN and Flashback technology. Ensure that data recovery procedures are tested and valid.
- Cloud Database Management (AWS) : Administer and optimize Oracle databases in AWS environments, including database provisioning, scaling, patching, and maintaining high availability using AWS services such as RDS, EC2, and S3.
- Automation and Scripting : Develop and maintain shell scripts for database automation tasks such as backups, health checks, and monitoring.
- Troubleshooting and Incident Management : Proactively troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance degradation, locking, and query failures.
- Documentation and Reporting : Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to database configurations, best practices, migration procedures, and recovery strategies.
- Collaboration : Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and network engineers to ensure database services meet business requirements.
Required Skills and Experience :
Experience :
- 10+ years of experience in managing and optimizing Oracle databases in a high-performance environment.
- Advanced experience in database performance tuning and SQL tuning techniques, including the ability to diagnose and resolve slow query and performance bottlenecks.
- Extensive experience managing databases on AWS, including RDS, EC2, and leveraging AWS cloud-native tools.
- Deep understanding of Oracle RMAN, Flashback technology, and comprehensive disaster recovery strategies.
- Proven experience in performing cross-platform migrations and upgrades from one Oracle version to another, including cloud migrations.
- Scripting Skills : Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash, KornShell, etc.) for automating database tasks.
- Knowledge of database security practices, including encryption, access controls, and patching.
- Availability & High Availability : Experience with database clustering, RAC, and ensuring high availability of Oracle databases.
- Collaboration & Communication : Strong written and verbal communication skills to document and report on database configurations, performance, and project statuses.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) experience.
- Knowledge of other cloud database platforms (such as Azure or Google Cloud).
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) in relation to database management.
- Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Master (OCM) or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
