Research Assistant

We are a company that was set up in the late 1970s. The company has been committed to bringing cutting-edge technology to the country since its inception. In the last 2-3 years the company has been experiencing its growth phase. We work in the niche landscape of Rail track Maintenance with the Indian Railways and various Metros in the country. The Company has recently executive the largest Make In India project for track maintenance machines in India. It currently has a fleet of over 100 varied machines deployed across Indian geography. VIPL has secured long-term operation and maintenance contracts for these railway track maintenance machines.

Role & responsibilities

• Assisting the Research and Development function of the company.
• Surveying the rail networks (Indian Railways and Metros) for setting up of new test sites.
• Collecting and analyzing data from the existing and any new test sites.
• Communicating and presenting analytical insights to team members through charts, tables, and other data visualization.
• Preparing materials to be submitted for grants from various organizations and foundations.
• Developing a thorough understanding of Rail Wheel Interaction systems, equipment, and machinery to create actionable and insightful content.
• Assisting in writing research content for various publications especially indexed journals and prestigious conferences like International Heavy Haul.
• Ability to work on research reports with minimal supervision.
• Working with large data and number sets to build analytic, predictive, and forecasting models quantitatively.
• Communicating with Business Partners.
• Designing tools/frameworks to support members (clients) in critical processes, and assisting organizations in transforming their operations

Preferred candidate profile

• Candidate age must be between 25 and 30 years.
• Candidate must have a good attitude and be committed to the work.
• Candidates must be proficient in English and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Candidate must have done Advanced Excel as well as Power BI.
• Candidate must have computer proficiency, i.e. MS Office Suite.
• Candidate should be Delhi-based only.
• Candidate should be willing to travel to any location in India at planned intervals.
• Candidate should be open to using all transport modes while traveling for work in or outside Delhi.
• Candidate should be open to working with Field Service Engineers on-site and building relationships simultaneously.
• Candidate must have past experience in writing research/ review papers.
• Published research papers in their name would be an added advantage.
• Candidate must be proficient in handling large numbers of data and analyzing it effectively.
• Candidate must be flexible to work for extended hours and travel to client partner sites (including abroad) at planned intervals for training on products and collection of data.
• AutoCAD would be preferable.
• Solidworks would be an additional advantage.
