Assistant Manager - Operations &Maintenance (Power Plant)

Role & responsibilities

Responsible for leading the daily operations activities and reporting of the Turbines, compressors, condensers, and header work areas and supporting the DGM O&M as and how required.

The individual must ensure smooth Turbine & Compressor operations and must have a deep understanding of power plant operations and maintenance.

Responsible for leading and managing a team of technicians and engineers for executing the daily operations activities of the BOP equipment and machinery in the Captive Power Plant (PP) unit and documenting the outcome of same for reporting purposes.

The individual must ensure smooth BOP equipment and machinery operations and must have a good understanding of power plant operations and maintenance.

BOP Operations

Execute the scheduled daily production plan and ensure that the daily power generation targets are met without compromising power stability and plant equipment health.

Ensure that all operations activities performed in the BOP equipment and machinery work areas adhere to the operational policies and procedures and are compliant with all regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Report and rectify any deviances identified.

Ensure power generated meets the desired qualitative and quantitative requirements of each production unit, as provided by the same.

Track and analyse daily power generation data to identify trends and generate recommendations for improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and to improve reliability.

Manage and lead a team of engineers, technicians, and operators to ensure all activities, including data capturing & recording, are performed safely and effectively.

Review the raw material quality tests and recommend relevant changes in material consumption schedules to the senior management.

Conduct daily visits across the plant to observe, validate, and rectify process deviances and abnormalities, as well as to monitor and document the performances of plant machinery and equipment.

Work closely with the Operation Excellence team as well as the PM-CBM team to ensure that all the maintenance activities are being completed as per SOPs and on time to reduce downtime and breakdown events.

Turbine Operations & Maintenance

Execute the scheduled daily production plan taking periodic maintenance activities into account to ensure optimal efficiency, productivity, and profitability

Monitor the implementation of operational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry standards and rectify any deviances identified.

Track daily power generation data to identify trends and generate recommendations for improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and to improve reliability.

Work closely with the various production unit heads to capture the desired electrical requirements for the uninterrupted operations of their plant units, machinery, and equipment.

Ensure power generated meets the desired qualitative and quantitative requirements of each production unit, as provided by the same.

Manage and lead a team of managers, engineers, technicians, and operators to ensure all activities are performed safely and effectively

Oversee the implementation of systems and processes to monitor, record and control the consumption of raw materials and other resources.

Conduct daily visits across the Turbine & Compressors work areas to observe, validate, and rectify process deviances and abnormalities.

Receive maintenance requests from Turbine & Compressors work areas and share the same with the relevant maintenance teams.

Work closely with the Operation Excellence team as well as the PM-CBM team to ensure that all Turbine & Compressors maintenance activities are being completed as per SOPs and on time to reduce downtime and breakdown events.

Oversee the implementation of periodic skills and knowledge development training programs across the BOP equipment and machinery team and provide relevant support as required, to ensure that the team of engineers and technicians are trained and equipped to carry out their duties effectively.

Ensure all documentation, records and data sets for the daily operations and maintenance activities of power plant are maintained on internal systems as per departmental SOPs and procedures.

Ensure that all Turbine & Compressors operations and maintenance activities adhere to departmental plan and budgets.

Oversee the implementation of periodic skills and knowledge development training programs across the Turbine & Compressors team and provide relevant support as required

Preferred candidate profile

Desired Qualifications

• Bachelors in mechanical, Electrical, or Production Engineering from a reputable institution.
• Masters degree in similar field preferred

Desired Experience

• 5+ years of experience in power plant operations and maintenance

Functional Skills

• Strong understanding of power plant operations and maintenance, including knowledge of boilers, turbines, generators, and other related equipment
• Proven track record of successful plant management and operational excellence
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and policies
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
