Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Renewable Energy & Project Finance Exp

Role & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Financial Planning & Structuring: Develop and implement financial models for large-scale renewable energy projects, ensuring zero-collateral and equity-free funding solutions.
• Fundraising & Capital Acquisition: Identify and secure funding sources such as power purchase agreements (PPAs), sovereign funds, venture capital, green bonds, project financing, private equity, debt syndication, and government subsidies.
• Investor & Lender Relations: Establish and manage relationships with financial institutions, venture capitalists, IREDA, PFC, SBI Capital Markets, private equity funds, and non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) to secure non-collateralized funding.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with MNRE, RBI, SEBI, and international renewable energy finance guidelines while structuring funding.
• Project Feasibility & Risk Assessment: Conduct risk analysis, due diligence, and cash flow forecasting for the 50 MW project.
• Government Grants & Incentives: Leverage national and international renewable energy grants, subsidies, carbon credits, and climate finance programs (such as PFAN, Greenstone Advisors, and Voltiq).
• Debt & Equity Structuring: Formulate creative funding models, such as revenue-based financing, green financing, PPA-backed loans, and consortium lending.
• Mergers & Acquisitions: Explore joint ventures (JVs) and strategic partnerships to maximize financial leverage.

Preferred candidate profile

• Proven experience in raising funds for renewable energy projects (preferably large-scale solar projects) without collateral or equity dilution.
• Strong network with banks, investment funds, sovereign wealth funds, private equity firms, and government agencies specializing in energy project finance.
• Hands-on experience with financial modeling, cash flow projections, and structuring of debt/equity financing.
• Understanding of government incentives, carbon credits, and power purchase agreements (PPAs).
• Experience in M&A, joint ventures, and international funding mechanisms.
• CA/MBA (Finance)/CFA or equivalent qualification in finance, investment banking, or project finance.
