Research Analyst - Mutual Funds & Allied Products

Job Description

As an Analyst, you will play a crucial role in supporting the tracking and selection of shortlisted investment products. You will work with the investment research team and be responsible for conducting research, analyzing data, and providing recommendations to assist in the decision-making process. Your insights and expertise will contribute to the overall success of our clients' investment portfolios.

The role calls for analysing quantitative information from a risk and return perspective and assist in qualitative inputs. The Associate should have a strong academic background and relevant experience in quantitative research. The individual should have a strong understanding of financial markets and be well-versed in statistical analysis and inference.

The role is dynamic and amongst other things may include the following:

• Conduct thorough research and analysis of investment products, including mutual funds, ETFs, bonds, PMS, and alternative investments.
• Monitor and track the performance of various investment products, utilizing quantitative and qualitative methods, and present a monthly review as well as develop marketing collateral for suitable products.
• Analyze market trends, economic indicators, and industry-specific factors to identify potential investment opportunities and risks.
• Track the performance of shortlisted portfolio and make necessary changes based on changing trends.
• Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations summarizing investment analyses, recommendations, and performance updates for internal and external stakeholders.
• Stay updated on industry regulations, market developments, and emerging investment products to ensure adherence to best practices and provide proactive insights.
• Assist in the preparation of investment proposals and client communications, ensuring accuracy and clarity in conveying investment strategies.
• Attend fund manager meets / calls to summarise key takeaways for client facing representatives.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Strong data analysis and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and draw meaningful conclusions.
• Should know key ratios, return calculations and risk metrics for investment analysis
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
• Detail-oriented mindset and strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Strong Planning and execution skills are required.
• Proficiency in using industry-standard software and tools, including advanced MS Excel, Google Sheets (finance), and any other financial databases. Skills in R and Python are a plus.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• High ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining client confidentiality.

Education Level

• Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or Business
• A Master's degree in a relevant discipline or certifications (e.g., CFA, CFP) is a plus.
