Assistant Manager - Logistics (Supply Chain)

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated logistics manager to oversee our logistic operations. The profile will play a key role in overseeing and optimizing all logistics operations including vendor, middle-mile, first-mile, and last-mile management. The role focuses on ensuring effective fleet management, cost optimization, stakeholder coordination, and smooth execution of day-to-day logistics operations. This position requires a strategic mind-set for budget adherence, data analysis, and regular reviews of operational costs while maintaining the highest standards of efficiency and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Vendor Management:
• Manage relationships with logistics vendors to ensure service delivery aligns with company standards.
• Negotiate rates, contracts, and terms to achieve cost efficiency without compromising service quality.
2. Middle Mile, First Mile, and Last Mile Management:
• Oversee and manage all aspects of middle-mile, first-mile, and last-mile operations.
• Ensure timely and accurate movement of goods from warehouses to destinations.
3. Stakeholder Management:
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
• Act as the primary point of contact for logistics-related queries and escalations.
4. Fleet Management:
• Oversee the scheduling, route planning, and maintenance of the vehicle fleet.
• Ensure optimal vehicle utilization and uptime, minimizing idle time and costs.
5. Cost Optimization:
• Generate daily and weekly data on vehicle and route costs.
• Conduct regular cost reviews and implement route optimization strategies to reduce logistics costs.
• Drive budget preparation and ensure strict adherence to planned costs.
6. Budget Preparation & Adherence:
• Prepare and monitor logistics budgets in collaboration with finance teams.
• Ensure all logistics activities are conducted within the budget framework.
7. Data Generation & Analysis:
• Collect and analyse data on fleet operations, logistics costs, and route efficiency.
• Generate reports and present findings to senior management for informed decision-making.
8. Follow-up & Reporting:
• Regularly follow up on vehicle movements to ensure on-time deliveries and operations.
• Maintain logs and records for all logistics activities to ensure compliance and traceability.

1. Proficiency in Office Suites/Google Sheets:
• Strong expertise in handling spreadsheets, data analysis, and report generation.
2. Fleet Management:
• Experience in managing vehicle fleets, ensuring optimal utilization, and controlling costs.
3. Rate Negotiation & Cost Optimization:
• Proven ability to negotiate rates with vendors and carriers, ensuring cost-effective logistics solutions.
4. Excellent Communication & Presentation Skills:
• Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, stakeholders, and team members.
• Excellent presentation skills for sharing logistics performance updates with senior management.
5. Attention to Detail:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in budget tracking and cost reviews.
6. Leadership & Team Management:
• Ability to lead and manage a team of logistics staff, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Or 5-9 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management, with at least 2 years experience in core Fleet management & operations.
• Experience in working with logistics software and tracking tools is a plus.
