Job Title: Software Development Engineer III (SDE 3/4)

About the Role
As a Software Development Engineer at Upstox, you will play a pivotal role in driving the development of large-scale, high-performance backend systems. This is a backend-focused role where you will design and implement scalable solutions while optimizing for performance and reliability. You will work with cutting-edge technologies, solve complex engineering problems, and mentor junior engineers to foster a culture of excellence and innovation.
Responsibilities
Coding: Write high-quality, production-grade code in Java or Go , adhering to best practices
System Design: Architect, design, and implement distributed backend systems that are scalable, resilient, and maintainable.
Problem Solving: Tackle challenging engineering problems, optimize existing systems, and drive technical innovation.
Data Platform Integration: Build and integrate with data platforms for seamless data ingestion, processing, and retrieval (preferred).
Code Reviews: Conduct thorough reviews to ensure quality and identify areas for improvement.
Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams, including product and DevOps, to deliver impactful features.
Mentorship: Support and mentor junior engineers, guiding them toward technical excellence.
Performance Optimization: Monitor and improve system performance, reliability, and scalability.
Qualifications
Must-Have:
5+ years of experience in backend software development.
Strong proficiency in Java or Go and deep understanding of system design principles.
Familiarity with database technologies (both SQL and NoSQL)
Hands-on experience with distributed systems and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
Expertise in designing scalable and fault-tolerant services.
Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes)
Strong debugging, problem-solving, and performance optimization skills.
Nice-to-Have:
Exposure to data platforms and frameworks like Kafka, Spark, or Flink.
Knowledge of event-driven architectures and microservices.
Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
Previous experience in fintech or other high-growth, high-traffic industries.
Soft Skills
Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams.
Analytical mindset with a passion for solving complex problems.
