Electrical Engineer

Role & responsibilities

1. Electrical Systems Design and Implementation

• Assist in planning and designing electrical systems based on project requirements.
• Oversee the installation of electrical components, wiring, and systems at the construction site.
• Ensure electrical designs comply with project specifications and standards.

2. Quality Assurance and Testing

• Conduct inspections and tests on electrical systems and components to ensure functionality and safety.
• Identify and resolve issues in installations, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
• Maintain records of testing and inspection reports.

3. Compliance with Codes and Standards

• Ensure all electrical work complies with national and local regulations (e.g., NBC, IEC standards).
• Liaise with consultants to ensure approval of designs and installations.
• Address discrepancies in compliance promptly.

4. Project Execution and Coordination

• Coordinate with civil engineers, contractors, and other team members to integrate electrical systems.
• Monitor and manage subcontractor performance for electrical work.
• Ensure the timely execution of electrical installations in line with the project schedule.

5. Resource Management

• Monitor material usage for electrical work and maintain an inventory of supplies.
• Coordinate with the procurement team for the timely availability of materials.
• Optimize the utilization of labor and resources for electrical tasks.

6. Cost Management

• Monitor electrical work costs and ensure they remain within budgetary constraints.
• Identify and report any cost overruns or savings opportunities to project management.

7. Safety and Risk Management

• Enforce electrical safety protocols on-site to prevent accidents.
• Identify potential electrical hazards and implement corrective measures.
• Conduct safety briefings for on-site personnel involved in electrical work.

8. Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain detailed records of electrical plans, tests, and modifications.
• Prepare and submit regular progress reports to the project manager.
• Document any changes to electrical designs or installations for future reference.

9. Maintenance and Troubleshooting

• Assist in commissioning and testing electrical systems post-installation.
• Diagnose and resolve any issues during or after the installation process.
• Provide technical support for troubleshooting and system optimization.

10. Continuous Learning and Improvement

• Stay updated on the latest technologies, materials, and methods in electrical engineering.
• Suggest innovative approaches to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
