Automation Engineer PLC & Industrial Integration

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Automation Engineer with expertise in PLC programming, OPC UA communication, and industrial automation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions to enhance manufacturing processes and data integration within an Industry 4.0 framework.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement PLC programs in Keba controllers for industrial automation.
• Configure OPC UA server & client communication for seamless machine integration.
• Optimize and automate data flow between production equipment and enterprise systems.
• Implement Industry 4.0 solutions, including real-time data acquisition and smart factory concepts.
• Integrate manufacturing processes with ERP systems to improve efficiency and traceability.
• Develop and manage data visualization dashboards for monitoring key production metrics.
• Set up network protocols (Ethernet, RS232, or USB) for industrial communication.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues in industrial automation environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, IT, and engineering.
• Ensure compliance with industrial automation standards and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or Mechatronics (or equivalent experience).
• 2+ years of experience in PLC programming (Keba, Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or similar).
• Strong understanding of OPC UA communication and industrial networking.
• Experience working with ERP system integration and manufacturing IT systems.
• Knowledge of Industry 4.0 technologies and smart manufacturing principles.
• Proficiency in IEC 61131-3 programming languages (Ladder Logic, Structured Text).
• Familiarity with data visualization tools and dashboards.
• Experience with Python or Node-RED for middleware integration (preferred).
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with industrial database systems for data acquisition and analytics.
• Knowledge of SCADA/HMI systems.
• Understanding of manufacturing workflows in industrial environments.
• Hands-on experience in modbus, MQTT, or TCP/IP communication protocols.
