PostgreSQL Developer

Job Summary:

As a PostgreSQL Developer, one will be responsible for designing,

implementing, and maintaining complex database systems and will collaborate

with cross-functional teams to ensure high performance, security, and reliability

of existing data solutions.

Job Responsibilities:

• Design and implement scalable database architectures that meet the

needs of various applications.

• Conduct performance tuning and optimization of PostgreSQL databases

to improve query execution times and overall system performance.

• Develop and manage ETL processes to ensure seamless data

integration from multiple sources.

• Collaborate with application developers to create efficient APIs that

facilitate data access and manipulation.

• Implement robust security measures to protect sensitive data and

ensure compliance with industry standards.

• Work closely with product managers, application developers, and other

stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure database solutions

meet business needs.

• Maintain comprehensive documentation of database designs,

processes, and procedures for future reference.

• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers on best practices

in database development and management.

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in SQL and PL/pgSQL (stored procedures, functions).

• A thorough knowledge of PostgreSQL's architecture is essential,

including its features such as parallel queries, native partitioning, and

support for JSON data types.

• Extensive knowledge of database design principles, indexing strategies,

and performance tuning techniques.

• Experience in performance tuning is vital. This includes understanding

indexing strategies, query optimization techniques (like analyzing query

plans), and utilizing PostgreSQL-specific features such as materialized

views and common table expressions.

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS RDS for PostgreSQL) and

containerization technologies (Docker).

• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and analytical

processing.

• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for continuous

integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).

• Proficiency in scripting languages (such as Python or Bash) for

automating database tasks and maintaining operational efficiency

is beneficial

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex

database issues effectively.

• Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts to

non-technical stakeholders.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
