Job Title: Senior AI/ML Engineer

Experience Level:

• Option A: 5-8 years of hands-on experience in developing, deploying, and maintaining core AI/ML models and solutions.
• Option B: 3-4 years of industry experience with a PhD in AI/ML (with demonstrated deep, practical expertise).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop & Deploy Core AI/ML Solutions:
• Design, implement, and optimize deep learning, OCR, NLP, and ML models for semantic search, recommendation engines, and other AI-driven applications.
• Utilize Hugging Face models and tools to fine-tune and deploy state-of-the-art transformers and pre-trained architectures efficiently.
• Own the end-to-end ML lifecycledata collection, preprocessing, model training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
• Extract structured and unstructured data from scanned & digital PDF forms using OCR-based AI models (e.g., Tesseract, Amazon Textract, Google Document AI, LayoutLM).
• Apply NLP and NER techniques to extract relevant entities, key information, and insights from unstructured data sources such as:
• Social media posts (e.g., sentiment analysis, entity recognition, topic modeling)
• Literature and research papers (e.g., information retrieval, summarization)
• Email bodies and customer communications (e.g., intent detection, named entity recognition, classification)
• Develop rapid prototypes and interactive demos using Gradio or Streamlit to showcase ML models and solutions.
• Production-Quality Engineering:
• Write clean, scalable, and efficient code for AI/ML models and APIs using best engineering practices.
• Ensure models are optimized for production, handling real-world constraints like latency, scalability, and resource efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ML solutions into broader systems and services.
• Leadership & Solution Design:
• Manage and guide 2-3 junior team members, reviewing their work and helping with ML solution design and implementation strategies.
• Provide technical mentorship and ensure the team follows best practices in AI/ML development.
• Take ownership of AI-driven technical architecture and strategic decision-making.
• Research & Innovation:
• Stay updated with the latest AI/ML research, NLP advancements, and Hugging Face ecosystem, ensuring solutions leverage state-of-the-art methods.
• Contribute to internal research, open-source projects, or ML competitions.
• Present complex analyses clearly, ensuring insights are actionable and well-communicated.

Requirements & Skills

Professional Experience

• Option A: 5-8 years of hands-on AI/ML experience in a production environment.
• Option B: A PhD in AI/ML with 3-4 years of industry experience demonstrating deep, practical expertise.

Technical Expertise

• Core AI/ML Skills:
• Strong expertise in OCR, NLP, NER, deep learning, and ML model development.
• Extensive experience working with Hugging Face Transformers, fine-tuning pre-trained models for NLP, OCR, and entity extraction tasks.
• Proven experience in extracting structured data from scanned and digital PDF forms using OCR-based AI models.
• Deep expertise in NLP techniques, including Named Entity Recognition (NER), sentiment analysis, topic modeling, text summarization, and relationship extraction from unstructured text sources (social media, literature, email body).
• Experience building rapid prototypes using Gradio or Streamlit for ML model demonstrations.
• Solid understanding of semantic search, recommendation systems, and applied ML principles.
• Proficiency in Python, ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow), and deep learning techniques.
• Systems & Tools:
• Experience with Hugging Face, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and ML model serving APIs.
• Familiarity with Linux-based environments, Git, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).
• Hands-on knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), vector search engines, and knowledge graphs is a plus.
• Strong experience working with relational databases (Postgres, MySQL).
• Leadership & Collaboration:
• Experience mentoring and managing 2-3 junior AI/ML engineers on project execution and technical design.
• Ability to define AI strategies, review code, and guide the team on best practices.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to translate business problems into scalable AI/ML solutions.
• Additional Credentials (Bonus):
• Contributions to AI/ML research papers, open-source projects, or ML competitions.
• Experience with vector search engines, embeddings, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) is a plus.
