Supplier Quality Engineer

• Manages portfolio of suppliers as assigned by SQD group manager. Responsible for the quality of parts shipped by supplier to any UDT location
• Early involvement of SQA in supplier Selection, Participating in the Segment strategy, RFQ Preparation Evaluating potential suppliers with the QDCFTSR using UDT Specific tools (RTS, SRET, Sourcing case risk mitigation, Benchmark evaluation etc...)
• Understanding the Product fitment and functionality from the engineering and communicate the same via RTS and process design review to the Suppliers
• Insure APQP is performed and proceeding in accordance to required project timing and the risks are communicated with mitigation plan
• Verify APQP deliverables including participating in Process Audits, Part Handling Reviews, P-FMEA, D-FMEA, Control Plan development, packaging issues and other APQP elements as required
• Verify PPAP submissions are accurate and represent acceptable production ready product per design intent
• Secure the Initial Capacity assessment and cycle time balancing to ensure the risks are mitigated
• Drive the Quality concerns raised from the UDT plant with quick containment and deep dive on the root cause to narrow down with why why analysis secure the corrective actions
• Verify investigation findings and corrective actions for quality issues whenever possible to insure suppliers are performing root cause analysis and permanent corrections
• Lead Supplier Development (SD) program activities for suppliers with poor performance as determined by the SD process and maintain appropriate documentation
• Lead the evaluation and continuous improvement of suppliers via use of UDT processes including Supplier Evaluation Model (SEM), Safety Management Audit (SMA), Process Index Audits and insuring investigation and corrective action on field failures
• Work in accordance w/ UDTP Processes, Quality systems, the UDT Way and the UDTP values and behaviors

Results and Deliverables

• Monitor APQP planning and approvals
• PPAP planning and approvals
• Updated quality data in IT systems including certificates, APQP, PPAP, SD, SEM, Index, SMA, etc.
• Review and approve action plans
• Supplier evaluations, indexes, approvals (if trained and authorized).
• Supplier process audit report
• Insure that suppliers delivers projects according to quality, cost, time, and performance requirements
• Insure that suppliers support production requirements according to quality and delivery requirements
• Insure that suppliers minimizes warranty costs
• Drive Quality and Process improvements at suppliers
• Improvement of all KPI s as agreed to with Group Manager and may include Warranty, FF, PPAP, QPAP, GPOT with full QDCF agreements

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE

• University degree in Engineering ( Bachelor s / Master s ) Electrical / Mechanical
• Minimum 4 year of experience with automotive APQP /PPAP , Quality tools
• Strong Knowledge on the Electrical components or Handling Suppliers
