Head of Engineering (10-12 yrs)

About the Role :

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head of Engineering to lead and scale our engineering organization. This is a leadership role that involves overseeing all aspects of software development, ensuring high-quality product delivery, fostering a culture of innovation, and driving technical excellence. The Head of Engineering will be responsible for developing strategies that align with our business objectives and ensuring the team has the resources and guidance needed to execute at the highest level.

Key Responsibilities :

- Lead and manage the engineering organization, including multiple development teams, QA, DevOps, and other related functions (e.g., Data Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering).

- Inspire, mentor, and develop leaders across teams to deliver on organizational goals.

- Develop, implement, and evolve the engineering strategy, ensuring alignment with the company's overall business objectives.

- Partner with executive leadership to prioritize and align engineering initiatives with organizational goals.

- Oversee the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), ensuring timely and high-quality product releases.

- Define clear milestones and metrics for success while maintaining high standards for code quality, performance, and reliability.

- Lead recruitment and hiring efforts for engineering talent across various levels.

- Create a growth-oriented, diverse, and inclusive engineering culture.

- Develop and implement initiatives for training, career progression, and retention of top engineering talent.

- Provide expert technical direction and mentorship to engineering leaders and team members.

- Foster a culture of continuous learning and encourage teams to explore new technologies, methodologies, and industry trends.

- Contribute to and influence the overall architecture and design of our software products.

- Ensure that the architecture is scalable, reliable, and secure, while considering both immediate and long-term technical requirements.

Skills : Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, Go, or similar.

- Expertise in front-end and back-end frameworks, such as React, Angular, Node.js, Django, or Spring Boot.

- AWS, Google Cloud, Azure. Experience with cloud-native architectures, serverless computing, and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or Travis CI.

- Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).

- Knowledge of microservices architecture, RESTful API design, and event-driven systems.

- Familiarity with security best practices, encryption, authentication, and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, SOC2).

- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar.
