Job Description:
Designation: Key Account Director
The Key Account Director is responsible for managing and growing the company s most strategic and high-value accounts. With a minimum of 7 years of experience, the Key Account Director will lead a team of account managers while building and nurturing long-term relationships with key clients. This role involves strategic oversight of account growth, retention, and profitability, and requires exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills. The Key Account Director will also collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure the delivery of tailored solutions that align with client objectives and business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Strategic Account Management:
    • Oversee and manage a portfolio of high-priority, high-revenue accounts.
    • Develop and implement long-term account strategies that align with both the client s objectives and the company s business goals.
    • Identify growth opportunities, including upselling, cross-selling, and expanding service offerings within existing accounts.
  2. Client Relationship & Stakeholder Management:
    • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with key client executives and decision-makers.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for senior client leaders, ensuring that their needs are met and that they receive consistent, high-quality service.
    • Lead regular business reviews with clients to ensure satisfaction, gather feedback, and address any challenges or concerns.
  3. Leadership & Team Management:
    • Lead and mentor a team of Key Account Managers and Account Executives to drive success across assigned accounts.
    • Ensure team members are aligned with the overall account strategy and are delivering high-impact solutions to clients.
    • Foster a collaborative team environment, encouraging knowledge sharing and best practices.
  4. Revenue Growth & Retention:
    • Take ownership of revenue growth targets and work toward meeting or exceeding them through the development of effective account strategies.
    • Manage the renewal process for key accounts and negotiate contract terms to maximize revenue retention.
    • Implement client retention strategies and resolve any issues promptly to ensure long-term satisfaction and loyalty.
  5. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Partner with internal teams, including sales, marketing, product, and customer service, to ensure the smooth delivery of products/services to clients.
    • Collaborate with product development teams to tailor solutions based on client feedback and market trends.
    • Work closely with operations and support teams to ensure seamless execution and the highest levels of service delivery.
  6. Market & Competitive Analysis:
    • Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitive offerings to identify opportunities for clients.
    • Provide strategic insights and recommendations based on market intelligence to improve account performance.
    • Analyze key account data and client performance metrics to guide decision-making and identify areas for improvement.
  7. Contract Negotiation & Renewal:
    • Lead contract negotiations and renewals for strategic accounts, ensuring mutually beneficial terms for both the company and clients.
    • Collaborate with legal, finance, and compliance teams to ensure contracts are aligned with company policies and industry regulations.
  8. Reporting & Performance Metrics:
    • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for each account, including revenue growth, retention rates, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
    • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on account performance, challenges, and opportunities.
    • Use CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) to manage client relationships, track sales activities, and analyze account health.
Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
    • MBA or equivalent advanced degree is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • At least 7 years of experience in account management, key account management, or sales, with a proven track record of managing large, complex accounts.
    • Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth, improving customer satisfaction, and managing high-value client relationships.
    • Experience in leading and mentoring teams of account managers or sales professionals.
  • Skills:
    • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence key decision-makers.
    • High level of proficiency with CRM tools (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.), Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and account reporting software.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and accounts simultaneously.
    • Financial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets, forecasting, and pricing strategies.
