Roles and Responsibilities

1. Infrastructure Design and Optimization:

• Design scalable, secure, and cost-effective AWS architectures tailored to handle high-peak demand during global events like FIFA 2026.
• Provide guidance on multi-region AWS architecture for fault tolerance and disaster recovery.
• Optimize AWS services for efficiency, ensuring alignment with Visa Amigos production-readiness goals.

2. Infrastructure as Code (IaC):

• Review and validate Infrastructure as Code (IaC) modules (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) created by the team.
• Ensure reusability and standardization of IaC templates to simplify deployments.

3. Expert Guidance on AWS Services:

• Offer strategic advice on using services such as VPC, EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, and CloudWatch for observability.
• Design VPC endpoints and private link integrations for secure connections to AWS services.

4. Performance and Scalability Planning:

• Assist with load balancing, auto-scaling, and capacity planning to support expected traffic surges.
• Implement caching strategies using ElastiCache and optimize database queries in DynamoDB.

5. Security and Compliance:

• Validate IAM policies, KMS encryption, and other security configurations to meet stringent compliance standards.
• Conduct architecture reviews to identify vulnerabilities and ensure best practices are followed.

6. Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing:

• Work closely with DevOps and SRE teams to ensure smooth implementation of the designed architecture.
• Document architectural decisions and provide training sessions for the team on AWS best practices.

Skills and Qualifications

• Must-Have Skills:
• 7+ years of experience designing and managing AWS cloud infrastructures.
• Expertise in multi-region architectures, disaster recovery strategies, and high-availability designs.
• Deep knowledge of AWS services, including VPC, IAM, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and CloudWatch.
• Proficiency with IaC tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Strong understanding of networking (VPC design, subnetting, NAT gateways) and security (IAM, KMS encryption, WAF).
• Good-to-Have Skills:
• Experience with AI/ML workloads on AWS, such as using SageMaker or integrating third-party APIs.
• Familiarity with AWS cost optimization tools and practices.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional certification.
