Tableau Reporting Lead with Hadoop Expertise

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Tableau Reporting Lead with strong expertise in Hive to drive our data visualization and reporting strategy. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in designing and delivering scalable Tableau solutions while integrating data from Hive and other big data platforms. This position demands a deep understanding of Tableau, big data ecosystems, and strong leadership capabilities to guide the team in crafting actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities

Tableau Development and Reporting

• Develop, implement, and maintain advanced Tableau dashboards, reports, and visualizations to meet business needs.
• Integrate Tableau with Hive and other data sources to enable seamless reporting from large datasets.
• Optimize Tableau workbooks and dashboards for performance and usability in big data environments.
• Create advanced calculated fields, custom hierarchies, and data blending to improve reporting capabilities.

Hadoop and Hive Integration

• Design and manage Hive queries to extract, transform, and load data for Tableau reporting.
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure efficient and scalable data pipelines from Hadoop.
• Optimize Hive queries for performance and ensure efficient data retrieval for Tableau.
• Experience with Hive best practices for data storage and retrieval (e.g. Partitioning, Clustering, etc.)
• Leverage HiveQL to structure and analyze data for building reporting models.

Data Strategy and Governance

• Define and enforce governance policies for Tableau and Hive usage, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
• Experience with Data Marts and Data Warehousing schemas.
• Establish a strategic roadmap for integrating big data capabilities into the reporting ecosystem.
• Ensure consistency, accuracy, and security of data visualizations and reports.

Collaboration and Continuous Improvement

• Partner with data engineers, architects, and business analysts to align data strategies with organizational goals.
• Stay updated on the latest Tableau, Hadoop, and big data technologies to drive continuous improvement.
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency and effectiveness by leveraging advanced Tableau features and Hadoop capabilities.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field (Masters degree preferred).

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in Tableau development and data visualization.
• 3+ years of experience working with Hadoop Hive and big data technologies.
• Proven experience with HiveQL for querying large datasets.
• Strong background in managing large-scale data environments and integrating with BI tools like Tableau.
• 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role, leading Tableau or data teams.

Skills and Competencies

• Proficiency in Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server, and Tableau Prep.
• Expertise in Hive, HiveQL, and related big data ecosystems (e.g. HDFS, Spark).
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases.
• Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and data pipeline architecture.
• Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Certifications (Preferred)

• Tableau Desktop Certified Professional or equivalent certification.
• Certifications in big data technologies (e.g., Cloudera, Hortonworks, or Apache Hadoop).Role & responsibilities
