Deputy General Manager - Technology & Product Planning - Automobiles (11-15 yrs)

A Lead - Technology Planner in an automobile organization is responsible for strategizing and implementing the technology roadmap for all automotive products. This involves identifying emerging technologies, evaluating their potential impact, and integrating them into the product development process. They collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business objectives and customer needs. Additionally, they monitor industry trends and competitive landscapes to maintain a competitive edge.

- Develop and implement comprehensive technology roadmaps aligned with the company's long-term vision.

- Stay abreast of and analyze the latest trends in in-car technologies, including infotainment solutions, ADAS, connected cars, software-defined vehicles (SDV), and more.

- Craft a future-oriented technology and powertrain strategy for upcoming vehicle portfolio, considering market forecasts, best practices, competitor benchmarking, and product/technology benchmarking & forecasting.

- Utilize data analysis skills to interpret and synthesize large data sets to address specific business challenges and meet portfolio requirements.

- Proven ability to collaborate effectively within matrix teams, influencing stakeholders across departments such as PD, Sourcing, Design, Marketing, and Product Planning to achieve project objectives

- Assess the ability to analyze project/program financials and develop compelling business cases to secure necessary investments.

- Partner with product planners to support business case execution and recommend suitable powertrain options aligned with success criteria (fuel economy targets, cost, perceived quality, etc.).

- Forge relationships with key vendors specializing in advanced technologies. Analyze the technology fit for our vehicle portfolio and build a case for integration in future models.

- Act as a liaison with key stakeholders like R&D, Supplier Sourcing, Component Development and Material Management to facilitate smooth implementation of new technologies.

- Deliver compelling business presentations to senior leadership, clearly communicating strategic insights and recommendations.

- Foster a collaborative environment, working with cross-functional teams across departments to solve business problems effectively.

- Proven knowledge of cockpit technologies, connectivity solutions, ADAS functionalities, and cutting-edge in-cabin features.

- Possess a deep understanding of powertrain technologies, including electrification, alternative propulsion systems, and hybrid powertrains, and their impact on vehicle attributes like performance, efficiency, and fuel economy targets.

- Familiarity with EV and ICE powertrains, including motors, batteries, hybrid systems, and alternative propulsion technologies.

- Working understanding of mobile applications, FOTA (Firmware-Over-The-Air) updates, SDV, user interface/user experience (UI/UX), and customer journeys.

- Ability to envision customer-centric features enabled by software-defined vehicles (SDV).
