Safety Officer

The Safety Officer will ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations at the Rabale unit. The individual will implement safety policies, conduct risk assessments, provide safety training, and ensure a safe working environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Safety Compliance and Policies:
• Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific health and safety policies.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and national safety regulations (e.g., Factory Act, OHS guidelines).
• Keep updated with regulatory changes and recommend necessary adjustments.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

• Conduct regular safety inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments.
• Recommend corrective and preventive actions to eliminate risks.

Incident Investigation:

• Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and accidents.
• Prepare detailed reports and recommend measures to prevent recurrence.
• Safety Training and Awareness:
• Conduct safety inductions for new employees and contractors.
• Organize safety drills (e.g., fire drills) and provide training on emergency procedures.

Monitoring and Reporting:

• Maintain records of inspections, incidents, audits, and training.
• Prepare monthly safety performance reports and share them with management.

Emergency Preparedness:

• Ensure the site is equipped with emergency response plans and first aid kits.
• Coordinate with local authorities and emergency services as needed.
• PPE Management:
• Ensure proper use, availability, and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Contractor Safety Management:

• Monitor contractor activities to ensure adherence to site safety protocols.
• Review and approve contractor safety documentation.
• Qualifications and Skills

Educational Qualifications:

Diploma In HSE, ADIS, equivalent.

Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, First Aid Certified or similar).

Experience:

2-3 years of experience in an industrial safety role, preferably in manufacturing or fabrication units.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in conducting risk assessments and preparing reports.

Knowledge of safety-related software/tools is an advantage.
